Customers who fall outside the age limitations will not be able to hire a car unless there is a young or senior driver fee specified in this section. Please note that if applicable, this fee will be included in the rental price and will be payable on arrival at the rental desk in the local currency.
Travel Restrictions
NO CROSS BORDER RENTALS ALLOWED TO MALAWI, MOZAMBIQUE, ZAMBIA AND AND ANGOLA. VEHICLES MAY NOT CROSS THESE BORDERS EVEN IF RETURNING TO NAMIBIA.
ALL CROSS BORDER RENTALS ARE SUBJECT TO A FEE OF NAD 1 900.00 (INCL VAT).
IN THE EVENT THAT A CUSTOMER TAKES THE VEHICLE ACROSS THE BORDER AND RETURNS IT TO NAMIBIA THEN THIS FEE WILL APPLY. HOWEVER, IF THE CUSTOMER TAKES THE VEHICLE ACROSS THE BORDER AND DROPS IT OFF IN A NEIGHBOURING COUNTRY, THEREFORE, INCURRING ONEWAY FEES, THE CROSS BORDER FEE IS NOT CHARGED.
SOUTH AFRICA, SWAZILAND, LESOTHO AND BOTSWANA A LETTER OF AUTHORITY FOR CROSS BORDER RENTALS MUST BE REQUESTED AND OBTAINED BY THE CUSTOMER AT THE TIME OF COLLECTION OF VEHICLE. IF THIS IS NOT OBTAINED, AVIS CANNOT BE HELD RESPONSIBLE IF THE CUSTOMER IS REFUSED ENTRY.
EVERY VEHICLE GOING INTO ONE OF THE ABOVE-MENTIONED COUNTRIES MUST HAVE A 'NAM' STICKER ON THE BACK OF THE VEHICLE. THE CUSTOMER IS REQUIRED TO VERIFY THIS BEFORE LEAVING THE AVIS LOCATION.
